Introduction
According to Sharma et al. (2003), “Succession planning is the critical key that determines the survival and development of family businesses across generations.” This course introduces theoretical foundations, core principles, and practical steps for succession planning, helping participants prepare a long-term roadmap for the “challenging and enduring” work of founders. Participants will be guided on how to design a succession plan aligned with the development goals and values of the family business. In addition, they will be equipped with modern analytical tools, real-world case studies, and methods to assess the readiness of a family business during leadership transition.
